CBDU: WUC Beach Sports, Rio de Janeiro 2024

History

Beach Handball has been integrated into the FISU World University Championship programme as a compulsory sport for the 2024 edition of the Beach Sports event.

The inaugural edition of this event was held in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It drew a respectable attendance of 105 participants, a mix of both men and women, eager to compete.

The atmosphere throughout the event was truly electric, filled with camaraderie and the thrill of competition.

Spectators and participants alike were treated to a series of captivating matches, showcasing impressive skill and sportsmanship.

Adding to the unforgettable experience were the absolutely breathtaking views of Rio’s iconic landmarks – the majestic Sugarloaf Mountain and the awe-inspiring Christ the Redeemer statue, providing a stunning backdrop to the proceedings.

Informations & Documents

The Beach Handball tournament shall be organised in accordance with the most recent technical regulations of the “International Handball Association” (IHF).

In any dispute the English text shall be regarded as authoritative.

The programme and duration of competitions are fixed by FISU in agreement with the Organising Committee and the World University Championship TCC.

The competitions shall last 6 days and include:

  • One men’s tournament: a minimum and a maximum of 6 teams from 4
    different countries and 2 different continents
  • One women’s tournament: a minimum and a maximum of 6 teams from 4
    different countries and 2 different continents

For each tournament, each country is authorised to enter a maximum of 13 persons: a maximum
of 10 and a minimum of 8 players, and maximum of 3 and minimum of 1 officials.
