Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of the 2026 FISU WUC Beach Sports will take place on September 16, at António Silva Guimarães Terrace, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Programme of the Ceremony

1. Parade through the city – from the meeting point (to be announced) to the venue of the Ceremony;

2. Upon arrival at the venue of the Ceremony, each delegation, by country, will be called to take to the stage;

3. Institutional and ceremonial speeches;

4. Official opening of the event;


Transportation

Transportation to the Opening Ceremony will be provided only for the Delegations accommodated at Atlântida Sol Hotel and Foz Beach Hotel.

As the other hotels are located close to the venue of the Opening Ceremony, delegations staying at these hotels should make their way to the assembly point for the parade (location to be announced) on foot.

Meals

As the ceremony will start at 18h30, lunch boxes will be available for delegation members upon arrival at their hotels, to be taken as dinner.


Further relevant information

At the Opening Ceremony, delegations must:

  • Appoint a standard-bearer who will carry a plaque bearing their country’s flag;
  • Wear clothing that reflects or identifies the country they are representing;

As the ceremony will start at 6:30 p.m., lunch boxes will be available for delegation members upon arrival at their hotels, to be taken as dinner.


Medal Ceremonies

The medal ceremonies will take place at the venue at the end of each day of competition.

The following dates are scheduled for the medal ceremonies:

• Beach Wrestling: 17 and 18 September
• Beach Volleyball: 21 September
• Beach Soccer and Beach Handball: 22 September

Depending on the sport, different prizes will be awarded, such as:

• Beach Wrestling
o Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, by category and by gender
o Team Trophy

Beach Volleyball
o Gold, Silver and Bronze medals

Beach Soccer
o Gold, Silver and Bronze medals
o Trophy for the top three finishers

Beach Handball
o Gold, Silver and Bronze medals
o Trophy for the top three finishers.

The number of medals is in accordance with FISU regulations. Should any country wish to have additional medals for officials or extra athletes, they may request this from the Organising Committee, at an additional cost of €10.00 per medal.


Closing Ceremony & Closing Party

The Closing Ceremony of the 2026 FISU WUC Beach Sports will take place on September 22.

It will be a moment of celebration, gratitude, and unity after days of competition and friendship.

This special event will leave lasting memories of Figueira da Foz and the 2026 Beach Games.

For the Closing Ceremony, dinner will be served at the same venue. Therefore, the usual dinner schedule will apply, according to the regular catering timetable.
